Examples of DTC-eligible restrictions
Ella
Due to chronic pain fibromyalgia, Ella walks slower than a person their age without their restrictions. Ella needs to take a lot of breaks when walking. Ella can only walk short distances. They struggle to walk up and down stairs or inclines. When conditions are flared, they are unable to leave the house without assistance. She also takes longer to prepare meals and dress herself because of her restrictions.
Kay
Kay is an adult with autism spectrum disorder and anxiety. Kay has difficulty understanding body language and sarcasm. They get very anxious in social situations and struggle to maintain eye contact. They have difficulty with word-finding and have trouble expressing their needs. They are sensitive to light, sound, and touch and spend most of their time at home. They can be highly focused in their interests but are easily distracted when performing other tasks. When they are feeling overwhelmed, they repetitively rock back and forth.
Anwar
Anwar has type 1 diabetes and requires insulin therapy every day. The time it takes to do activities around therapy (monitoring blood sugar, testing ketones, etc.) takes several hours a day.
